Our Services

HR consultants in Adelaide

Most Adelaide businesses do not hire an HR consultant because something has gone badly wrong. They hire one because the team has grown, the owner is still doing people work at 9pm, and nobody is quite sure the contracts still match the law.

ADELAIDE HR CONSULTANTS

An HR consultant in Adelaide is there to take that off your plate. Not a template pack. A person who knows your business and can answer the messy questions before they become Fair Work problems.

At Cornerstone Consulting Group we work as an embedded HR partner for growing businesses, typically 20 to 150 staff. Local clients we see on site in Adelaide. Interstate clients we support remotely.

HR CONSULTING

What does an HR consultant in Adelaide actually do?

Day to day, it is the people work a growing business cannot justify a $100k internal hire for. Employment contracts. Workplace policies. Modern Awards and Fair Work compliance. Performance and difficult conversations. Onboarding. Sometimes recruitment.

If you want the diagnostic first, that is a separate piece of work: an HR Health Check. A consultant helps you run HR week to week. A Health Check tells you what is broken and in what order to fix it.

If you only need a one-off question answered, start with HR advice.

When do you need one?

You do not need a crisis. These are the usual signs:

  • The business has grown and HR still looks like it did at half the headcount
  • There is no one to call before a performance issue or a messy exit
  • Contracts or policies have not been touched in a couple of years
  • You are unsure everyone is on the correct Modern Award
  • You are about to hire managers, or you are tired of being the HR department

If two or more of those are true, an HR consultant is usually cheaper than learning the hard way.

CHOOSING AN HR CONSULTANT

HR consultant vs a full-time HR hire

Under about 100 employees, an outsourced HR consultant usually wins. You get senior advice across contracts, compliance, performance and recruitment without carrying a full-time salary.

A mid-level internal hire costs upwards of $100,000 a year plus super, leave and overheads. Most CCG retainers sit between $3,500 and $6,000 plus GST. Ad-hoc support is typically $250 to $350 per hour plus GST.

What to look for

  • They work with businesses your size, not only corporates
  • They can explain Fair Work and Modern Awards in plain language
  • You will know the fee before any work starts
  • You can start with a project. You do not have to sign a 12-month retainer on day one
  • They will tell you if a Health Check, hourly advice, or a retainer is the better fit

If a firm cannot tell you how they price, or they push software you did not ask for, keep looking.

Frequently asked questions

Do we have to be based in Adelaide?

No. We are based in Parkside and most clients are South Australian. We also support businesses across Australia, on site locally and remotely interstate.

Is outsourced HR the same as an HR consultant?

In practice, yes for a business your size. “Outsourced HR” usually means ongoing support. “HR consultant” can mean a project or a retainer.

Will we get stuck in a lock-in contract?

Hourly advice and fixed-fee projects have no ongoing commitment. Retainers are 12-month agreements. There is no pressure to start there.

How quickly can we get started?

Usually within a week or two of a first conversation. If something urgent is on fire, call us.
